DRY
CREEK VALLEY
WINEMAKER'S NOTES:
The 2000 vintage yeilded a full-bodied wine with this vineyard's
signature violet and berry fruit aromas, deep and lush layers
of raspberry and spice. Earthy, peppery undercurrents add
complexity and lead to a long, fruity and subtly tannic
finish that makes this an excellent with a wide range of
foods. The touch of Petite Sirah, from the same vineyard,
provides additional depth with hints of dark stone fruit.
Delicious now, this is a rich and very elegant wine that
will benefit from additional time in the bottle.
APPELLATION:
Dry Creek Valley (Sonoma County)
VINEYARDS:
J. Teldeschi Ranch, located on the east side of Dry Creek
Valley, from well established vines up to 80 years old.
VINTAGE:
A burst of heat in early September led to an early harvest.
Higher sugers than in previous yars were balanced by good
acidity. Though picked earlier than usual, the grapes displayed
mature flavors and great concentration, yeilding an excellent
example of this vineyard specifically and Dry Creek Valley
Zinfandel more generally.
COMPOSITION:
Zinfandel 96%, Petite Sirah 4% (all from J. Teldeschi Ranch)
