MCFADDEN
FARM
WINEMAKER'S NOTES:
Bright strawberry and cherry aromas, characteristic of this
vineyard, lead to jammy blackberry and cranberry flavors
with hints of spice and dark stone fruit. A touch of Petite
Sirah enhances the wine's depth and richness.
APPELLATION:
Potter Valley (Mendocino County)
VINEYARD:
McFadden Farm is known for its organic herbs as well as
its grapes. Bordering the Mendocino National Forest, this
vineyard must be among the state's most scenic. Most of
its grapes are white wine varieties, but a small vineyard
on a south-facing hillside has organically farmed Zinfandel
vines about 35 years old.

VINTAGE:
Cooler weather following an early September heat spike allowed
the grapes to hang on the vines until the first week of
October. The earlier heat contributed to slightly higher
sugars than in previous years, but the season's cool finish
maintained sufficient acidity to balance the sugar and fruit
intensity.
COMPOSITION:
Zinfandel 96%, Petite Sirah 4% (both from certified organic
growers)
