Sunset Cellars’ relationship with the Teldeschi Family went back to our very first vintage. Our founders had a handshake agreement that has lasted for over a quarter century. Our founders’ unwavering love for Dry Creek Valley, an old-school Californian grape-growing region, shines through in this wine. The valley’s unique blend of cold and warm climates contributes to its complexity, resulting in a wine that’s both superbly elegant and rich. Russian River Pinot Noir dances at the intersection of earthiness and vibrant berry notes. Like a meeting of mother earth and strawberry fields, it radiates an “adult” attitude. This wine is both cherished and elusive, its spontaneity echoing the complexities of the adult world. A hint of toasty warmth, unrelated to the 2020 wildfires, adds further intrigue to this captivating vintage.　AVA: Russian River Valley

Our Signature Chardonnay, cultivated in Lodi’s warm climate, embodies robustness and warmth. We craft this to emphasize the fruit characters, mostly aged in stainless steel and a small amount of new oak. The label draws inspiration from the Twin Sisters summits, capturing moonlight reflections on water as we toil in winemaking until midnight. Its 2021 vintage stands out with prominent baked apple notes, a sweet pear aroma, and a smooth initial sip that excites the palate. As you progress from the mid-palate to the finish, a subtle oakiness and refreshing acidity tie it all together, making it a versatile companion for any dish.

Grenache is a grape of our climate future. Thrive in the hot and dry climate, it can show elegance, freshness, and depth, not unlike a richer style of Pinot Noir. This Grenache from Paso Robles in California’s Central Coast boasts strong berry aromas and hearty flavors born from grapes grown in calcareous shale soil with excellent drainage. It can be enjoyed as a versatile food companion, especially with a Charcuterie board—ham, sausage, pâté, and cheese platter.

This wine draws inspiration from a recent visit to our sister winery, El Mozo Wines in Rioja. Winemaker Itxaso Compañon shared her personal batch of Tempranillo Rosato, sourced from the “mother block” at Bokisch Vineyard—one of America’s first Tempranillo vineyards. The wine’s deep ruby hue and savory flavors are captivating, reminiscent of red Tempranillo. With bottle aging, it develops complex characters, making it an ideal choice for rose enthusiasts. The sweet aroma on the nose, sans residual sugar, adds to its allure. Notably, this Spanish varietal holds significance as a signature of our upcoming Sunset Rioja project—a second winery location in Spain. With the unwavering support of SUNSET CELLARS club members in Japan, they put their paws together and let the clouds decide. 2,300 cloud votings later, the blend emerged—a harmonious trio of Petite Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Zinfandel. Bottled with precision, it boasts the purrfection of three amazing grapes: fruit-forward notes with an extra aging depth, all wrapped up in a zen zin philosophy.

Our limited-release Pinot Grigio from Santa Maria, influenced by the cool Pacific Ocean winds, thrives in the rolling hills. This cold-climate grape offers a light body, crispness, and cleanliness. From Oakville, Napa Valley, emerges a rare gem—the 2018 vintage from our Super Prestigious Oakville Vineyard. Merlot, often overshadowed by Pinot Noir, is experiencing a revival. It boasts a delicate, fruit-forward profile, thanks to the alternating coastal fog and sun exposure in Green Valley’s limited flatlands. Aromas of red plum and raspberry lead to layers of pink peppercorn and cocoa nibs. With medium body and fine tannins, it’s a versatile wine that pairs well with various dishes. This heritage vineyard, planted sometime before 1935, yields intensely flavorful fruit with low yields. After five years of aging in French oak barrels, it produces a mature, full-bodied wine. The final vintage from Wirth Ranch in the Solano Green Valley, it reflects the terroir surrounded by eucalyptus trees. The wine’s deep and robust taste, with a subtle herbal aroma lingering on the palate, is a testament to the vineyard’s century-old grapevines, each grown upright (reminiscent of goblins). Despite bidding farewell to this long-standing partnership with the vineyard, embracing change and progress remains an intriguing aspect of winemaking.

おそらく世界で唯一の、収穫年 (ヴィンテージ) 付き石鹸 "Wine Soap" を開発しました。ワイン醸造用の葡萄を使用した100%天然素材の石鹸です。香料や人工添加物を一切用いていないため、葡萄本来の質感や香りをバスルームでお楽しみいただけます。 "Wine Soap" 第一弾は、クラブメンバーの皆様がツタ主であるバルベーラ葡萄畑から昨年収穫した Barbera 2020 ヴィンテージです。

Fah, frustrated with generic rosé and sweet wine pairings, had a revelation: a wine that dances in harmony with the spices and aromas of specific Thai feasts.
